plus it is not shelf stable so it has alot of loss due to waste. So it costs more.

I'm not talking boutique brands but bottom line lowest price. Side by side olive is a better deal.

But what is wrong with canola? No one has said anything that I have found to show it is bad.

    Cite please?

I looked several different places a few times, and found completely conflicting info.  Since i eat mostly olive or grapeseed (no kitchen so no cooking oil needed) I just have kind of crossed it off the list, since I couldn't tell anyway what to think.

The canola council says that it is perfectly safe, but does say that it is GM at the bottom of the page.canolacouncil.org

But Snopes says it is all an internet myth

And then, you have Wikipedia talking about 87% of US grown Canola being GM Round Up Ready

And then you have the health blogs.

So much conflicting information I really don't know...

Here is a GMO site I often use: GMO-Compass

May be ok, and just so much crap in our food it is impossible to tell anymore what is healthy.  I wish I could be more help.

But just a matter of not wanting to support unsustainable food production methods.

        •  That seems to be the case (0+ / 0-)

although i will admit to a not very well thought out fear anytime GM is mentioned, not having more than a passing knowledge of what GM is, and hearing that it is banned in Europe or that rats grow tumors with certain GM foods.

I'm sure that it is much more nuanced and complicated than that, but alas, I am the product of a small unaccredited Christian high school, and my scientific understanding is admittedly pretty weak.
