Who was worse?  Who would you vote for? Sorry about the hypothetical reference, but it illustrates my point that we're circling the drain in our elections.

In 2008, for the first time in decades, I voted FOR someone, not simply against the other candidate.  THAT is what elections ought to be about - voting FOR someone.

We've had far too many coin-operated politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, who may talk a good game, but who end up supporting the monied elite.  For Republicans, luring votes with RW extremism has become the norm.  For Democrats, luring votes with promises of fairness, equality, justice, and equity for the common person is their equivalent.

However, no matter who gets into office it's been the same march of megabucks to the entitled few and less and less for regular folks.  It's time for this to end.

We need elected officials who represent us and not their campaign donors.

Stalin v. Hitler? What a despicable thing to say.

as much as you and I agree on some things, I really take issue with your "Stalin Vs. Hitler" meme.  To me it diminishes the horrors people lived through in both these regimes, horrors we in America have no experience of, with the exception of African Americans who lived through slavery and all the African Americans who have had to live with its aftermath.

I agree with another commenter here, the right does enough of comparing Obama and Democrats to Hitler without progressives joining in.

      •  If you don't like those words (4+ / 0-)

replace them with "lesser of two evils".  However, that mutes the point that I was making which is that we've "accepted" less and less progressive Democrats as time has gone on because we're always voting AGAINST the Republican who is always worse.  Pretty soon it's going to be something like Hitler vs. Stalin and we'll be stuck as to who we should vote against.

Putting it in other words, which candidate do we vote for when they'll both screw us, but one will enjoy doing  it more?

We need a better choice.  To vote FOR someone than simply against someone worse.   I voted FOR Obama in 2008 (and worked my ass off for his election) and AGAINST Romney in 2012.

I know those words raise flags, but I was making a serious point and not simply being inflammatory.

I just don't see things the same way you do on this. I did vote FOR Obama. Twice. And I don't think he's out to screw us.  We'll have to agree to disagree.
