  •  Delivering these citations to peoples homes (26+ / 0-)

is intended to have a chilling effect - and it does.  They know who you are, where you live and it's a thug tactic that doesn't need to be employed at all - particularly towards an elderly woman.

Sending THREE police officers in 2 police cars seems a bit like overkill, but is clearly meant to intimidate.

Too bad we don't have similar actions aimed towards the Wall Street Thieves and Banksters that continue to impoverish America.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.

    •  Well, she might have been armed (7+ / 0-)

if she were a teabagger. But she only has a little dog to lick the cops to death.

    •  She was certainly entitled (5+ / 0-)

to ask questions.  I'd be outraged, too.  The issuance of these kind of citations - for SINGING - is nothing short of intimidation.

Normally I'd have more sympathy for police officers; my cousin was a police officer killed in the line of duty in 1985 in Milwaukee.

      •  It's silly to think a process server ... (0+ / 0-)

could answer questions of any kind.  I understand why she did so, but no helpful information would ever be within the knowledge of a server.  The only thing to do is consult an attorney or Legal Aid, or try to do some personal research.  Even court clerks are forbidden from answering such questions because they'd all ultimately be accused of giving out the wrong information.

    •  Is there a pro bono lawyer that can help this (1+ / 0-)

woman?  Somebody involved with the movement and the Solidarity Singers?

Because her having to get to town for her court date (distance, travel, etc), argue with the city attorney in court, etc. won't go well for her (the intimidation tactic again).   And I want a lawyer there for her.

First thing:  "Prove I was there when you say I was".  Then, "Prove I am a 'leader' "   (if that indeed is what the ordinance requires for a fine to be issued)

"Privatize to Profitize" explains every single Republican economic, social and governing philosophy. Take every taxpayer dollar from defense, education, health care, public lands, retirement - privatize it, and profit from it.
