    Nuke was a bogus deal for many, at least back in the 1980s when I was in the Navy. The promises are great, but the fact is they deliberately over-recruited and dumped a lot of good people who passed their tests and were qualified.  They still had to serve their commitment, but in a dead-end rating wherever the Navy put them.

    Beware the military recruiter - more promises than a used car salesman.

      tried to put me too. After about three recruiters backslapped me silly over my ASVAB scores. I'd been in NJROTC; it was like the third time I'd taken the damn thing.
      I didn't end up going in, though. I TMR'ed at MEPS and in the intervening time, I got talked out of going back and going in.
