  •  I would like them to have liability for guns. (5+ / 0-)

I can't control their guns.  Only they can control their guns.

Why should I have to pay for their inability to control their guns?

Please help me introduce my novel interpretation of the word keep in the 2nd Amendment into the discussion.

someone might get hurt, I need amnesty.

Their gun is out there and society is going to take up the slack.

I can't keep or control their guns.  Only they can.  And the 2nd Amendment says they should keep their arms.

        No if's and's or but's.

        keep means keep

        •  I know you think you have (5+ / 0-)

solved the whole gun thing with this, and I appreciate your sincere desire to protect the innocent.

However, we do have a long tradition in this country in which the only person that is punished for a crime is the guilty party. Not the victim.

          •  I don't think that at all. There are many other (4+ / 0-)

things that need to be done.  All of them are being fought tooth and nail, including this one.

I can't keep the gun.  Why should I have to take up the slack for a gun not kept.

A person who loses control of a deadly weapon isn't a victim.  The person who suffers as a result of that inability is the victim.

Don't pick up a fire hose you can't control.  A gun is dangerous if you want to keep one fine.

Just don't bring me into the equation with your tear stained victim face.  Now I have to figure out what to do when your gun shows up pointing in my face.  That is ridiculous.

            •  Your making a very false assumption (2+ / 0-)

that the owner was at fault for the loss. and your also assuming that it was somehow negligence on their part.  The owner could have done everything right, including having them locked in a heavy safe.  They could be the victim of a burglary or a car break in.  Remember many places are allowed to say you can't bring your gun in to an establishment meaning that keeping it on them, under their control, may not be an option.

              •  So my threat to society of unleashing a gun = 0 (0+ / 0-)

                A gun owner's threat to society of unleashing a gun = >0

Why should I be in his threat loop?  It's none of my business.

And yet the gun owner expects me to take up the slack when his best efforts failed.  And that's responsible gun ownership.

I don't see it that way.  I can't control his gun so if he can't either, I guess we are just going to have to face it.  Guns can't be controlled and shouldn't be allowed.

You should be liable when a pickpocket takes your credit card and ID, goes and buys an arsenal, and kills innocents.

I mean, why should I have to take up the slack for a credit card not being kept?

A person who loses control of their credit card is not a victim. The person who suffers as the result of that inability is a victim.

A credit card is dangerous if you want to keep one fine.

Just don't bring me into the equation with your tear stained victim face.

You should go to prison and also pay restitution for the actions of that criminal. I mean honestly, you can't even keep track of a credit card!
