  •  You know, the whole idea about "chained" CPI is (16+ / 0-)

that if elderly folks have less money, it doesn't matter, because they will substitute cheaper stuff for the "luxurious" stuff they were buying with the present CPI.  In other words if hamburger gets too expensive, they'll just eat the hamburger helper without the hamburger.

How do these rich bastards have the audacity to suggest something so out of touch with reality?  Here's reality.  Poor seniors are already substituting cheaper alternatives in order to stretch their meager social security pensions with the present CPI formula.  Will these decadents not be satisfied until poor seniors are on their hands and knees eating out of the same bowl as their dog?

Where does someone with the wealth of, say, Rush Limbaugh, or Mitt Romney, or Eric Cantor - dining on prime beef and lobster served on fine china on hammered copper tabletops in their private jets on their way to the Super Bowl - where do people like that find the chutzpah to suggest that they should not be asked to alter their lifestyles in the least, but the poor should find someplace cheaper than the Dollar General they shop at now?

How do they even get away with suggesting such a thing?
They should have to run a gauntlet of seniors and their supporters pelting them with derision.  Why aren't they?

Can no one believe they will do what they've threatened?

And who the hell is Grover Norquist???
