  •  Biopsy on my ear yesterday (8+ / 0-)

You asked to be kept informed. I was being facetious when I said befor it might be ear cancer---evidently that may be true. It doesn't seem fatal, looks operable. I'll find out next week.
I'll review this story_ about Thanksgiving time I noticed this growth on my ear up on the helix, wasn't getting any better. I made an appt with the VA clinic and got one about 12/22. They first scheduled me for a biopsy in Mid Feb but I went back and told them I'd be going to Chile in March and wanted to have it ALL done by then.
To get it re moved I have to go to Roseburg but its an outpatient procdure.

    •  Most skin cancers do not spread (8+ / 0-)

unless you let them go too long and get out of hand.  Basal cell carcinomas are the easiest to get rid of.  I had a squamous cell carcinoma taken off my leg last year, and it seems to be doing fine.  It is those black or dark brown malignant melanomas that should scare the pants off of anyone.  As I recall, John McCain has had a number of basal cell carcinomas taken off his face.  He is fair-skinned and has been out in the sun a lot all his life.  Those two things alone are high risk factors.

getting it taken care of before your trip to Chili.  The sooner the better, plus you don't want to be fretting about it during the trip either.

So will you go to Roseburg next week and they make a determination?

I wait for the call telling me what the biopsy says, should be by the end of this week or early next week. They will make the determination then what to do. I've studied the symptoms online pretty close and think its probbly a cancer---it sure isn't a wound that is healing up.
However, it doesn't seem life threatening if dealt with right away, which is what I intend. I couldn't beliebe they originlly gave me a biopsy time 6+ weeks away.
they were good about rescheduling the biopsy for earlier, I just went to the clinic and asked.
you can get what you wnt from the VA but sometimes you have to kick them in the ass, which is probly the same with any healthcare scheme. I have that VA guru I told you about who tells me all---its great!
BOY am I glad I have it!!

Go down and deal with them face to face and don't go away untill the problem is solved. ALWAYS be polite--- PTSD rating does NOT entitle you to bad behavior!!!!!!

Telephone calls may or may not do it and it will take a lot longer.
My new smartphone is great for this---plenty to do while waiting.
