  •  Well, they are crooks, but I'm not sure (9+ / 0-)

kidnapping or hostage-taking is the crime. They've been practicing a kind of extortion for some time, using their ability to distribute and dole out our natural and man-made resources to individuals and corporations who control the electorate that puts them in office.
But, since they are hired and paid to carry out certain duties and obligations, biting the hand that feeds them looks more like insurrection or insubordination than kidnapping.  After all, the Congress holds the purse and controls the purse strings. The failure to distribute the currency, which they are charged with managing, is an abrogation of their duties and not very different from what is described in the parable of the unjust steward in the bible.

    Luke 16: 1-13

In other words, stewards serving their own, rather than the master's interest, is nothing new. That their "rewards" are not immediate or that their tactics are negative (not collecting debts that are due) is not new either. What makes it hard for generous people to perceive is the lie. Lying is not a crime and fraud is really hard to prove when the resources being missused have been handed over in good faith. That's why the only recourse the master in the biblical parable had was to fire the steward and content himself with no longer throwing good money after bad.
Congress, in failing to collect debts owed from those who wantonly accumulate our cash, is perpetrating a fraud. Rationing a substance that's anything but scarce is something else. Depriving good people of the necessities of life is simply perverse and must not be allowed.

was the one calling it Hostage-Taking, Bomb-throwing,
a cynical ploy for Republicans to end Medicare,
slash Medicare, and cripple Social Security.

All the while, ignoring our bloated Military Budget,
that fosters more death, than life.

The big lie is that they refuse to admit,
      that it's their own handiwork,
that they are refusing to pay for.

... refusing to raise revenues for,
even though the Constitution explicitly instructs them to do just that.

And to not draw into question, the good faith and credit of the US Government.

in other word, their Ransom Demands.

Here's how the game is really Rigged.

      •  They don't even have to raise revenues. (1+ / 0-)

All they have to do is spend the currency they create. That the Federal Reserve is in charge is a convenient fiction, created by Congress to get themselves off the hook and to funnel a cut of every public dollar spent into the hands of the leisured elite.
It used to be that there were lots of material assets to dole out. Now that those are mostly gone or put into reserve status as national parks and wilderness areas, they're doling out the bucks via bloated contracts for little product or service and by not calling back any of the profit. Instead, they want to take it out of the hides of the 99%.
Why? Because the people not only voted wrong, but keep insisting on their right to govern. The Congress has met the enemy and it is us. Popular government. Populism. Judd Gregg quit because he couldn't stomach it.
Imagine Downstairs telling Upstairs what to do.  The Horror!
