    ...there would be few, if none at all, bans as the diarist notes. There would be constant consensus building, so the site would end up being comprised almost exclusively of centrists, from all political walks of life--folks that believed in a more liberal social policy and a relatively moderate-to-conservative economic policy. (Because all other schools of thought wouldn't be encouraged, despite the lack of user bans.) Eventually, the site would be quite boring...and would probably go out of business due to lack of eyeballs...just sayin'....

      to build consensus. Pie fighters invested in pie fighting and with a visceral hatred for Moderator Obama will not be party to any consensus.

      the Left Page, which is the part of the site that drives traffic, needs the Right Page to function.

      All that nonsense that is the semi-permanent community, informs and compliments the Front Page, and they need each other.

      So while it can get a bit tiresome, it is the thing that makes us different to HuffPo, for example.

      When the angst gets out of hand, it needs a bit of a clean up, but without it the place would suffer.

      I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
      but I fear we will remain Democrats.
