  •  We pretty much already have a Citadel here (21+ / 0-)

in the Southwest. It's called Arizona, where just about anyone can walk into a gun shop or gun show and walk about with an arsenal. And then wear said arsenal around on one's hip. No questions asked, no registration, no training required. Felon? No problem. Terrorist? Here, have a Glock. Mentally unbalanced? No problem, here's a big fucking gun—at the same time the state cuts funding for the mentally ill, a deadly combination.

Well done! (psst, wrong "they're" in first block quote.)

really wanted to stuff a burr under Brewer's saddlebags he'd have DHS issue a travel advisory for AZ or parts thereof.

Now that I think about it, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the bigger travel agencies (domestic and international) start posting warnings about the more crAZy cities. I'd think a lot of tourists might rightly be taken aback by strapped citizens wandering the streets of American cities.

    •  Does anyone else see some irony in the Citadel (0+ / 0-)

being in northern Idaho?  When I was a kid, I became a little obsessed with the Nez Perce war and Chief Joseph.  We visited several of the battle sites, and I tried to imagine what it was like a hundred years before. Chief Joseph tried his very best to accommodate the influx of white settlers.  Eventually, when there was no other choice, he restorted to arms - rifles - to try to preserve his liberty.  Chief Joseph, who had a real claim on the land and an actual valid case for using weapons, was defeated by the US army and his people lost their liberty.

Do these t-baggers think that they have a real claim on the land?  That they can basically secede and do their thing? Do they think their guns are really going to protect them if they decide to fight the United States?  They think they are independent, but they are not... not even remotely.
