I'm not happy with his administration's support for things like the "Patriot" Act.
I'm also really upset about the hard-edged prosecution of people who cross legal lines to get more information out to the public. While what Aaron Swartz did at MIT was illegal -- and in some ways I think he deserved a bit of prosecution (community service maybe?) -- his intent was not to cause harm but to open up information to as many people as possible. But he was hounded unmercifully (and of course we have Bradley Manning. And Julian Assange -- not my favorite person in the world, but not an international criminal who should be pursued like an escaped Nazi mastermind).

    •  Assange *is* an international fugitive. (0+ / 0-)

He committed an act which multiple courts have ruled he needs to be tried for in one country, but fled to another, and when that country ruled against him as well, fled to the embassy of a third.  That makes him an international fugitive, and fugitives have no right to complain about countries trying to fulful their legally binding court orders to arrest them.  Britain has a fugitive.  They know exactly where he is.  It'd be an explicit violation of their supreme court ruling to turn a blind eye and just let him sneak out, or worse, explicitly allow him out.
