  •  How would using a tool designed... (6+ / 0-)

for the sole purpose of killing or destroying something also be used to 'protect' that same something? Access to a firearm in a stressful situation tends to short circuit the problem resolution process. There are better solutions to 'protecting' your things of value, but if your goal is to kill or destroy to protect then you have succeeded.

    •  "Problem resolution" is often not an option. (5+ / 0-)

Attempting to talk down a mugger or a home invader is not at all likely, or wise. It is much better to protect yourself and your family with force than to be a helpless victim.

Not guns.  Look up what it does to fine motor reflexes and the thought process.

This problem resolution process you speak of:  How do you deal with violent sociopaths?  Or someone too drugged up to reason with?

I have also been lied to in a professional setting.  Had a user who brought in a laptop for warranty repair and it smelled like a brewery.  Our warranty does not cover user abuse.  He swore that beer was never poured into it.

I have to chalk it up to life experiences.  I have an ex-girlfriend that was, lets be honest here, crazy.  She was manipulative and her favorite game was to ask for little things one by one until she got the bigger thing that she wanted.  Her second favorite game was to pick a fight at about midnight about something very minor.  About a week later she called me and left a message saying her medication was adjusted and she was better.  I wanted nothing to do with her at that point.  I am now in a much healthier relationship with a spectacular woman.  Lesson learned.
