  •  The gun nuts are losing (4+ / 0-)

Any action from our leaders would be an improvement from the total silence that usually marks the aftermath of our routine mass shootings in this country. America has been held hostage by the hacks of the NRA for far too long. It is sickening that it had to take the mass murder of first graders for lawmakers and the president to assert their role in protecting citizens, and even then we may not achieve anything of substance thanks to conservative intransigence. The United States stands out as an uncivilized and deadly hotbed of gun violence when compared to other industrialized nations. This must change.    -  progressive

you ain't nothing. Everything else is just words.

We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.

    •  You won't achieve anything with prohibition (0+ / 0-)

and if cooler heads don't prevail we're going to see the same bullshit of the War On Drugs all over again except worse. And all you well-meaning, emotionally driven but ignorant people will have a debacle of legendary proportions laid at your feet. And the blood and treasure of the country squandered fighting it.

You can NOT put 200 year old technology back in the genie bottle. You're only going to make a few new Al Capones and a casualty list of dead, wounded, damaged, and imprisoned citizens a mile long. And you won't save a single child in the process. Not one.
