one of the many über-ignorant statements Coulter let fly on Hannity's Showcase of Stupid early this week was the notion that the GOP's next president should - via executive order - just ban abortionists and abortion clinics.**

Apparently Coulter hasn't been keeping up with what's happening at the state level all across this nation (like Mississippi).

I can't help but think she'd feel differently if states started banning ammunition and ammunition sellers.

If gun nuts are afraid of a tyrannical government wouldn't they want *less* defense spending?

    •  When states stop worrying about women's health (4+ / 0-)

      women start dying:

Jamie Lynn Russell was 33 years old when she went to an emergency room in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma in such debilitating pain that she was unable to move. Because her excruciating pain prevented her from lying down for an examination, hospital staff labeled her “noncompliant,” and called the police. The police discovered that she had two pain pills that weren't hers. Still in pain, she was released by the hospital as “fit to incarcerate,” arrested for drug possession, and taken to jail, where she died two hours later from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.
Hundreds of women have been arrested, convicted, jailed, detained in mental institutions or forced to endure medical procedures as a result of the “criminalisation of pregnancy” over the last four decades, a new report has found.

In the first study of its kind, to be published on Tuesday, researchers from the National Advocates for Pregnant Women (NAPW) identified 413 criminal and civil cases across 44 states involving the arrests, detentions and equivalent deprivations of pregnant women’s liberty between 1973 and 2005. NAWP said that it is aware of a further 250 cases since 2005. Both figures are likely to be underestimates, it said.

The report, which will appear in the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law, found that women were denied a wide range of basic human rights, including the right to life, liberty, equal protection and due process of law “based solely on their pregnancy status”.

Their last breath, of course, being "HA!! JUST KIDDING!!!!"

On a side note - one of the many thoughts that crossed my mind when I first read that Oklahoma ER story was being surprised the cops didn't Taser her.

        That's how frakked-up "normal" has become :/

    •  Just shows the abysmal ignorance about E.O.s as (1+ / 0-)

      well as I noted above.

An Executive Order only directs the Executive Branch, of which the Chief Executive is the head, how to do business within the law. One can expand the law in the sense that unless prohibited by law direct the members of the branch how to do business. Security classification is a prime example.

The law is very unspecific on classification issues. The Chief Executive essentially sets up the entire system of what is classified what, how it is downgraded or exceptions made, how classified material is handled and so on.

Since there is a SCOTUS decision making law on abortion the idea of an E.O. banning it is another wet dream and red herring of a whack job TP/GOP type.

The only foes that threaten America are the enemies at home, and those are ignorance, superstition, and incompetence. [Elbert Hubbard]
