    some of which aren't very good relating to on-the-ground reality here. But I appreciate your bringing this up. We did have redistricting on the ballot in November. And thanks slightly to an unclear campaign — I don't think the people behind it trusted voters to understand what it was about — and a lot to Republican tricks, lies, and misleading ads, it failed badly.

    I understand the campaign is meeting this week to analyze what went wrong and I hope they try again. Meanwhile, I hear the Republicans in the legislature are trying to derail attempts at nonpartisan redistricting by proposing their marginally better idea — expanding the apportionment board with MORE politicians and requiring a certain amount of minority buy-in (which would lead to incumbent protection horse trading) and of course kicking the can down the road to 2022 so they can milk their unfair advantage for all its worth. I hope that even if they do that, we go back to the ballot until it passes.
