  •  there's a huge gun show this weekend (13+ / 0-)

in my Florida GOP/NRA city - held on city property.
A private company organizes events for the facility, so according to city officials it's A-OK.  Guns will be sold to anyone without a background check - and then possibly re-sold to any crazy.
On a "separate issue", City officials say crime is down supposedly because the State Atty. is very tough - she's prosecuting Zimmerman.  But the next time property taxes are increased to fund more cops on the street....

    •  And if you run a meth lab on private property, (7+ / 0-)

you will get raided and arrested and your lab materials confiscated because there are laws that restrict or prohibit such activity anywhere, in private or in public.

We need laws that regulate the sale, storage and distribution of guns and ammunition so that those regulations prevent another mass shooting from occurring, and reduce the role of firearms in civil disputes.  Such laws would not inhibit honest, reasonable, responsible hunters or gun enthusiasts or collectors from owning or using guns.

That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10

      held in tax-payer funded facilities.

I remember a few years ago, attending a quilt show in a northern California county fair grounds building which coincided with a "gun show" in an adjacent HUGE county fair grounds building...and then of course if that weren't enough, there was the parking lot where "transactions" over the hoods of trucks and trunks of cars cast their pall on the entire day.

This, in one of northern CA's reddest zones - we had to drive 100 miles or so to get there and really should have known better. We really should have expected this, or checked it out before going.
