  •  The entire financial system is broken (14+ / 0-)

Here is the heart of the problem.

To keep the financial system from imploding (or cleansing as it should have) the Fed lowered interest rates to zero, and flooded the market with money from thin air.

Interest rates are supposed to be the "price of money". In a capitalist system the price of money is the KEY indicator for allocating capital. So when you put the price of money at zero, you make all kids of stupid investment look, on the surface, like a good deal.

The Fed is literally trying to force savers to take more risk and by doing so is trying to inflate the market (artificially). Smart investors are not so stupid, so despite the efforts of the Fed, the approach is barely working .... and everyone knows the system is broken and corrupt.

We have as yet seen no real reform. So any recovery you may see is not sustainable.

There's room at the top they're telling you still But first you must learn how to smile as you kill If you want to be like the folks on the hill

And the broad middle is looking at its iPhone, wondering which text message to respond to, ignoring the Class and Climate Wars because its too "serious" to get worked up about anything.

The Class, Terror and Climate Wars are indivisible and the short-term outcome will affect the planet for centuries. -WiA "When you triangulate everything, you can't even roll downhill..." - PhilJD

    •  Even during the Great Depression (the previous (0+ / 0-)

one, 1929) there were temporary ticks up, and what we hear touted now as recovery is just an empty phase based on skewed and flawed data.

The objective conditions of the population, and in their absolute numbers and percentages, has continued in steady decline, and in all areas of daily life and its needs.

Markos! Not only are the Gates Not Crashed, they've fallen on us. Actual Representatives are what we urgently need, because we have almost none.
