an argument as handpicking dumb comments from DailyKos. It is in no way representative of the general population, only of the loudest 0.01%.

I mean, take this very recent comment, in which the author openly advocates for curtailing the 2nd amendment, based on the glowing successes of the PATRIOT act in curtailing the 4th and 5th. I mean, this is just some random, crazy yahoo who has...

...no wait, my mistake, that's a front page diarist. Huh.

but agree that the comment you linked to was a humdinger of a dumb statement. Maybe the author is too young to remember life before the Patriot Act?? Too old to remember?? Wow!

Once dumb right wing tweets become the exception not the rule, then there will be a comparison. But right now most are simply parroting the NRA without realizing that the time is past when anyone can insist on absolute gun rights and be taken seriously.

      •  There has never been 'absolute gun rights'. (0+ / 0-)

However, I assume you are talking about Obama's proposals.....the proposals that still haven't passed the house or senate.
Nor have these ideas been critiqued by the public in an election.

Not only is it not over....it is just beginning.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.
