    Says organics are for elitists...

In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry, and is generally considered to have been a bad move. -- Douglas Adams, The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy

out sell the latest version of snake oil and magnets.  You should not have to buy organic to avoid crappy food. Once you have had Annie's ,for example, Kraft tastes like you are eating a saltshaker.  Mass produced food really is not that good or that good for you and those companies could produce better products without being organic, but they don't.

processed foods for the most part (or at least not what I've seen, maybe he does elsewhere).  Just about not needing to go organic to get proper nutrition -- a combination of frozen and canned veggies, and cheaper fresh stuff when and where available, will do you nicely.  I'm happy to assume that whatever study he's citing from is right about that.  Processed foods are never going to save you money anyway, organic or not.

Now pesticides and so on, that's a different matter.

spends so much time making his point about nutrition that he completely ignores the main reason that people buy organic, which is all the chemicals and pesticides applied to "regular" food.  Just because many organic-food advocates made a claim about nutrition being better with organic produce that doesn't hold up in reality (or at least, let's posit that it doesn't), doesn't mean that nutrition is or has ever been organic's main appeal.

His point about nutrition is sound.  Buy some damn veggies, even if they're frozen or canned or what-the-heck ever, and you will be getting nutrition equal to that offered by organic vegetables and at a price more friendly to the wallet.  (And infinitely better than not eating veggies at all.) It's just that in talking down organic produce as such, he's mostly flailing away at his own strawman.

Organic isn't about nutrition. It is about the way the food is farmed. I buy organic when I can because it is important to support something you believe in but if the organic kale is twice the price of the regular, you can forget about it.

If you aren't outraged, you are an idiot
