    It refers to government BY the people and that's the real issue. Judd Gregg called it populism and said that's why he quit. Republicans are authoritarians. They considered it a sufficient compromise to act "in loco parentis." That is, they would decide and their word is law and the only role for the people is to pick their poison at the ballot box.
    It's a system that's better than royalty because, instead of having to rely on heredity and DNA, every man has a chance to be king for a term or two or ten. It's a rotating dictatorship, accountable to no-one and financed by the banksters, who get to control the currency in exchange.
    Managing the purse is too much of a bother, anyway. Let the banks hold the money and then Congress can draw on the accounts as it suits them, or not.
