  •  You didn't here this from me but I Was Wrong. (0+ / 0-)

Flash back to 2008.  I was a rabid Obama supporter.  I invested an estimated 2000 unpaid hours organizing his campaign in 07 and 08.  I arraigned our election night celebration which stretched over two venues and spilled out into a street dance that went on till 2 AM smashing the local noise ordnance to smithereens.  The thing is that he mayor and entire city and county counsel were dancing so who was going to tell us to stop.

My boss is a nice enough young guy who grew in a large Mormon career military family. He owns several guns and I believe he is a responsible gun owner.  He target shoots but doesn't hunt.  Claims he's never killed anything, was an Eagle Scout and continues to be an adult leader, and we know that Boy Scouts don't lie.  Right.  He does believe that the could be called on to defend his family and is a true believer in the 2nd Amendment as an absolute right.  Guns are his family and religious culture.  I get that.

He opposed Obama but we had lots of conversations during the election.  He pretty much accepted that Obama would win and seemed curious why almost everyone else we work with supported him.  In reality he probably opposed Obama because that too is part of his culture but the big reason he actually articulated is that "Obama is out to take your guns away."

At the time and even for the entire first term there were no facts to back this up.  Despite the gun nuts paranoid fear, Obama ignored the whole gun issue much to my and others consternation.  I of course argued that Obama was far to moderate to take on an issue this controversial.  I repeatedly told people that Obama wasn't into gun control.  I just didn't see it in him.  He is much to conflict avoidant to take on the NRA.

OK I was wrong.  Damn I hate it when that happens. (snark)  But YEAH for being wrong this time!

Now of course the big question.  Will he pull this off or blink?  Wonder what odds Nate Silver is giving.
