  •  Richard Engel on Maddow last night (11+ / 0-)

Said he was skeptical at best, and that his on the ground reporting led him to believe that it was not a chemical warfare agent.

If you didn't see the segment, it's worth watching, as it compares to some past situations and raises some seemingly valid caution flags.

    •  Clay doesn't care about the evidence (6+ / 0-)

He's just here to spread false intelligence in order to get the US involved in another conflict in the Middle East. He doesn't want to talk about what happens after Assad is gone - rather he just wants war - no matter the cost. His diaries here serve that one single purpose.

This isn't an amen corner or an echo chamber for your views.

          •  I should argue whether I care about the evidence? (0+ / 0-)

Now what could I possibly say that would convince you or pluto or angry maggot of that?

A defector from Syria's military police and a leaked secret cable confirming that an accusation of the use of chemical weapons does exist.

You are basing your judgement on a confirmation of an accusation!

I don't know which I find more unnerving about your confidence, that you credit a military defector as a reliable source or the existence of a credible accusation.

            •  You want an honest answer, Clay? (0+ / 0-)

You would do well to recognize the limitations and biases of the sources you use to narrate events and processes in Syria. It would also help if you heeded your own advice in your tag-line to "remember history" and spend some time reading through some peer-reviewed literature on the history of Syria in order to understand at least some of the very complex dynamics involved here. Most of all it would behoove you to quit trying to jam every piece of dubious "evidence" within your over-determined and ridiculous narrative of "Obama ♥ al-Assad."

Thanks for "angry maggot," btw... I smiled at that one :~)

      •  bit of a harsh assessment (0+ / 0-)

mayhap a tad too harsh but I will concede that Clay does not offer many solutions for the problems he presents in his diaries.  OTOH I have not seen many solutions to the situation coming from other quarters either
