  •  ...exactly...this I know... (14+ / 0-)

...personally, I don't know that I want to spend a lot of time doing that for the next two years.  I will have to think about it.

I was told that those that got to be delegates this round have know each other for decades.  And it's true, they have.

This is ALSO exactly what's wrong with any Democrat locally that has aspirations of actually getting into the House.  They have to literally start their campaign NOW.  No Democrat the entire time I've lived here seems to know that.  They don't do that.  Plus they have no national or even California backing while the Republicans do have national backing.

Perhaps this looks bad but I'm not one to schmooze for a couple of years with the groups that have been together for decades just in hopes thatI could get to become a delegate two years from now.  I just don't really do that.

And after hearing all about what actually takes place at the California Democratic Convention (supposed to be worse than herding cats)...I just don't know.

I have no desire to run for office.  Some who I met that are now delegates DO desire that.

I think my efforts are probably best done more behind the scenes.  Since any registered Democrat can attend the Convention in California, I think, if I attended, I could better be kinda like a "lobbyist" and bend the ears of the delegates that actually get to vote for the platform...

    •  200,000-precinct strategy applies here... (15+ / 0-)

...If there is a local organization that gets a candidate rolling on building the groundwork now for a campaign in 2014, then it's easier to ask for national and statewide help from the Democratic Party apparatus(es). This footwork is a pain. But it has to be done if we're to have any success at building the kind of bottom-up operation we think will give us the best representation.

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

      •  ...yep...I agree totally... (7+ / 0-)

...but it really isn't happening with Democrats locally.  And I don't really think I'm gonna be the one to do that.

Frankly, I'm still in the end stages of all that crappy chemo and radiation poisoning crap.  I'm only know beginning to feel like my 'ol self.  Amazing it's taken this long (then again, I'm told it is not at all amazing...that it does take this long.  And I'm mostly told how amazing it is that I'm this far along "so soon.")

This year I am in the process of "the year of clean-up."  I still have a ton of dental work to do to repair the damage.

Well, until I get my medical situation completely behind me...and until I build up my practice again (I lost it pretty much after being "out" for 5 months)...I won't have what it takes to do the real grinding two-year work it really takes for local politics...
