  •  Funny how we have a comic telling the news (17+ / 0-)

It's funny that we have a comic who does a better job of telling us the news than the dedicated news media.  In making fun of the news media, Jon Stewart has become the source for actual news for millions of Americans.

(And I notice, both CNN and Fox News have taken to adding "humorous" bit to their news reporting, I'm guessing in an attempt to mimic the success of the Daily Show).

In truth, the news is pretty awful - our democracy has been replaced by corporations and monied interests writing laws that boost their profits by hurting Americans - and the news media is owned by those same corporate and monied interests who of course don't want that story reported to Americans.  So it makes sense that Americans turn away from the news media that no longer reports the actual news, in favor of a comic who by making fun of the news media, ends up giving a more accurate and thorough reading of the news.

    •  Stewart is in the tradition of Will Rogers (0+ / 0-)

During the 1920's and 30's he was often the source of the most incisive political commentary.  But he was "just a comedian".
