    that criminalizing prostitution isn't a very good answer, any more than criminalizing drug use is a good answer.

    But just about anywhere,  best information from the Netherlands, here in the US,  women don't so much choose the profession but have few other choices that allow them to support themselves.  Most studies seem to indicate the majority, possible 2/3 to 3/4 of prostitutes in the Netherlands are foreign born, from Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia, the epitome of women who have been exploited because they have few alternative financial choices, not in their homelands, not if they leave their homelands.

    As long as societies don't provide better education, equal pay, job opportunities to women,  prostitution ends up being employment of last resort for too many women.  Hardly a choice for most of them.   And all of this leaves out the sex trade marketing of young girls and boys who clearly have no choice.   That is simply criminal on the part of the adults who abuse them.
