There's a deficit in this country and Congress is focused on the wrong one. It's shameful that hunger, homelessness and lack of access to basic medically necessary health care is shortening the life span of more people in this country than in all of the other modern industrialized nations. If Congress is serious about solving the budget crisis, then they need to get serious about expanding and improving Medicare to cover all of us. Great research and analysis on single payer by the Institute of Socio-Economic Policy demonstrates that moving to a single-payer, Medicare for All health care delivery system would have immediate impacts: "$317 billion in increased business and public revenues throught the US economy; 2,613, 495 new permanent jobs, full standard health coverage for the uninsured and replacement of the current chaos of eligibility, exclusions, family coverage premiumcosts..."
Wake up, America! What are we waiting for? We can't afford not to have Medicare for All!
