    Not all PR pieces are paid, some are done just to get greater access to the "real stories" that are "soon" to break. This makes media companies very happy and helps them push their product (see Manufacturing Consent for more).

    I gave the impression that already well established (read: rich) journalists/news anchors are getting paid at the Peterson Fiscal Summits, which I shouldn't said. I have no idea what's going on at the PFS other than priming the public for austerity.

    However, this does not absolve the journalists listed in the article from their ethical responsibilities. We as a society need to stand up and hold unethical behavior accountable. Daily Kos definitely has the clout to do this and be effective. As much as I liked the way the diary concluded, we ought to call it for what it is - PR.
