    I did say relatively ;-)

    Compared to England (where a mother's name is much less likely on a baptism record, and almost never a mother's maiden name the way it was frequently recorded in Scotland), it is.

    And then there's Ireland..... lack of extant records, and slow to digitize :-(  Beginning to change, but non-existent records (either never recorded or destroyed at some point) can't be digitized....
