We have no notable uproar against alcohol-related deaths.

I disagree - there has been an uproar.  Many alcohol related deaths are when a drunk driver kills someone while driving drunk and because of that, in 1980, Mothers against Drunk Drivers was founded and they have been able to get strict drunk driving laws passed.

    Likewise, deaths from tobacco-caused illnesses:
I disagree - there has been such public outcry against tobacco that it is hard to find any where you can legally smoke.  Where I live, you can't smoke in any bar, restaurant etc but you can carry a loaded gun in if you want.

A bludegoning spree won't result in an outcry for banning baseball bats
um - respectfully, I find that baseball comment -- bizarre.

Baseball bats are regulated on a baseball field.  From little league to major league, a player is not allowed to swing his/her bat anywhere they please.  Hence the term, batter's box.

Baseball bats are also regulated in the manufacturing process so as to reduce the number of injuries from a bat that shatters and sends pieces flying.

In my opinion people who bring up death by baseball bat are merely trying to deflect from the more serious problem:
Guns are too easy to buy and there needs to be strict regulations put in place so we can REDUCE the number of deaths by guns as close to zero as we can get.
