  •  Ah, another variety of human husbandry. (24+ / 0-)

    Or should I say, "varietal?"

One suspects, although one has not bothered to connect with Facebook in any way, that there is some little form where those who connect consent to being used. And, when one consents, one cannot be abused. While that's no longer totally true in marital arrangements, the concept has been migrated to other venues. For example, it was assumed that because military personnel volunteered to surrender their right to life itself in service to their country, all their subsidiary rights -- i.e. less than lethal restrictions-- had been surrendered, as well. That included their right to bodily integrity (frequently challenged by rape), their right to speak about sexual preferences and even their rights to associate and reproduce without penalty.

There's a reason the cons claim that our human rights are "granted" by the Constitution. What the Constitution gives, the law can take away. The rule of law, when it is abused, is a handy subterfuge for deprivation under cover of law. Which is different from "deprivation under color of law," a well-defined and prosecuted crime.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
