Beret, if you hadn't posted the link, I could have probably written the lyrics out for you.

I actually had a small collection of super patriot 45's including this little ditty recorded by Pat Boone and this other bombastic gem.
This makes me wonder whether a survey of the entire genre is in order. "Patriotic Bores" perhaps?

The Casca excerpts read like very bad attempts at imitating Robert E. Howard but without the intellectual depth of the original.

Said he was not precisely the most stable guy in the unit even before he got wounded, and wasn't at all surprised when Sadler ended up in trouble down in Guatemala.

Patriotic Bores would be a great choice for an Independence Day Diary, right along with the much-delayed but still planned "Captain America - Socialist Scum!"  Depends on my mood this summer..:)

Nearly all the major characters of the Golden Age Comics would qualify as Socialist by present day RW standards. After all, that "Socialist" FDR was in the White House!

The thing about Cap in particular is that the character, per Marvel Comics canon, actually was (and in many ways still is) a New Deal Democrat, with a backstory that includes a stint working as a WPA artist before enlisting in the Army.  Even better, a recent issue caused an uproar when Cap, observing what is clearly a Tea Party demonstration, is less than amused by some of the signage.
