  •  Pretty much anything would be a better job (4+ / 0-)

than working for a jerk like that. I'm sure this isn't the only example of his assholery. I think he did them a favor. There are lots of jobs out there.

    •  Avoid narcissistic, controlling employers. (6+ / 0-)

They really want to own you, and make sure every one in their sphere is an extension of themselves.

And there are a lot of bosses like that-- the Murray Energy guy, the Lululemon guy (requires mgmt to go to Landmark Forum), the Abercrombie and Fitch people (must be a young attractive person), Dov Charney (must be found personally attractive by him, and possibly willing to be sexually harassed and like it), a growing number of Catholic businesses ..

The EEOC needs a serious update. To account for "coercive work environments", ones that require fealty to the boss' whim far beyond what professionalism would demand. (Or rather, what they're trying to.redefine professionalism as.)

We want to work for companies-- NOT cults!

      •  Yeah, I've worked for some like that. (2+ / 0-)

        Fortunately, they weren't particularly political.

Mostly, you just kept your mouth shut when they brought in idiot relatives or enforced social activities than involved many tributes to the boss.
