I'm just combining some things that seemed interesting to me over the years. I've always liked pre-WWII vehicles of all sorts, cars, dirigibles, biplanes, trains. So much so that I'm not interested in their modern counterparts -- I like the look of Victorian era fashion-- and old private eye movies -- and Baroque architechture -- and Art Nouveau -- and Science Fiction -- and on and on --

I'm thinking that I'll create enough of an odd blend that it'll be somewhat original but may just be able to still slide nicely into the steampunk category. The last thing I want is someone to tell me what doesn't fit. I don't want to narrow my focus yet. Historical accuracy and stylistic purity be damned, I'm picking what I like and making my own blend.

At this point I'm just soaking up images and pondering characters and settings.

It may never come together but it helps while away the hours between paying gigs.

isn't like every country in the world. I'm sure after a reasonable sentence Ojibwa will pass it to someone else.

Plus here you can experiment. Are you familiar with this?

Thanks so much for the link!

Why, I see an airship peeking at me from that page already ...

I may spend some time this weekend drawing blimps, balloons and biplanes.

There was an artist who once made a calendar for Michelin containing wonderful ink drawings of mobile cities -- cities contained in gigantic submarines, cities that flew in dirigibles, cities that flew like planes, cities that crawled over the ground like tanks, cites that climbed up the sides of cliffs with huge, mechanical arms and legs ...

I want some of that in my comic.
