Years ago I had the great fortune to teach Interpretive History at an historical center in Ray, MI.  It was an historic grist mill built in 1847 in the Greek Revival style.  We had an operational water wheel and mill race, remnants of the original dam, operational conveyors and chutes that carried the grist throughout the 4 story mill, a mill pond, and an operational turbine system.  Fascinating stuff!  The basement of that old building was so creepy, but oh so fun to explore.  I loved that job :)
