    ...come into being until 1951 (the Peak District having the honour of being the first).

    The National Trust - which originally tended to focus on stately homes - was founded as a private charity in 1895, however, despite the fact that there is close co-operation between the NT and the National Parks, it is true that nothing resembling a National Park was around until the early 1950s
