  •  Nice. :-) (15+ / 0-)

My dad is gone now, but I remember the days of my sister and I juggling his appointments with our work/husbands/kids.  We did our best, but occasionally something would come up and I couldn't make my appointed run.  My sister's husband has his own business, and if I got really stuck, he would drop everything to take my dad where he needed to be.  I thought he was a saint (8 years later I still think that), but he always said he enjoyed getting out for a change of scenery.

I used to sort of resent the out-of-town sisters who acted like it was a big deal when they flew in for a couple of days every few years, while the local sister and I (and our families) took care of things every day, including putting them up and waiting on them when they visited.  Now I know we were the lucky ones.

Enjoy your time with her while you can. There is still a lot to learn from your mom, including a lot she doesn't know she's teaching.

The past 50 years we: -Ended Jim Crow. -Enacted the Voting Rights Act. -Attained reproductive rights (contraceptive & abortion). -Moved toward pay equity. Republicans want to take our country back. I WON'T GO BACK!
