  •  Good morning F-Bombing art lovers! (12+ / 0-)

1839 – Paul Cézanne, French painter
Mr. Cezanne failed, in this critic's opinion, to capture the essence of his subject, Guy Madison, American actor.  (His gross misrepresentation of Mr. Madison's underwear preferences, may have contributed to the actor's untimely death in 1996.)

    1915 – Thomas Herbst, German painter (b. 1848)
Bravo!  But for the greenery, the rain clouds, and the bovines, the artist perfectly reproduced--in oil-- most any back yard in the state of Arizona.

1975 - Thomas Hart Benton, American painter
A powerful tribute to the American automobile industry, which produced a vehicle capable of withstanding the weight of a house toppling over on it. (The painting also delivers a well-deserved scolding to the hapless lease holders for their pathetic lack of landscaping skills.)
