    Many years ago I was teaching and in the faculty lounge a colleague mentioned to another that someone had just won the Nobel Prize for "putting sound waves into tiny bubbles" (which, I'm guessing, is sonochemistry as described here).  I pointed out that we did that every day for very little recognition, which made me a celebrity for the day at least among the teachers.
