Doug Tallamy's 'Bringing Nature Home' is a must-read for all Kossacks. Anyone with a backyard can become part of the solution to restoring our biodiversity which, like air and water, is not optional for our survival.

and it is a great read from the standpoint of the vital need to conserve and restore biodiversity. I have read it and re-read it many times. What is interesting, and what Doug Tallamy does not address, is the fact that conserving the biodiversity also saves money by eliminating the great labor and chemical inputs required to maintain monocultures of maladapted non native plants.

As I have often said, nature abhors a monoculture.

I plan to discuss/review Doug Tallamy's book when I discuss the biodiversity/diversity component of sustainable landscaping later in the series of diaries I am planning.
