    Let's assume, arguendo, that people need guns to protect themselves from the predations of that Kenyan Muslim Socialist.  I don't care how many Bushmasters you own, if Uncle Sam is that big of a threat to your liberty, Sam has tanks and planes and those black 'copters the Posse Comitatus warns about.  Arming yourself against that "threat" is an obvious exercise in futility.

    As to your final point, in this age of "market-based solutions," why NOT require gun owners to purchase insurance?  If car owners are required to buy it, why not gun owners?  Even if one buys the Roberts Court view of the 2A (I don't), how can an insurance requirement be deemed an unreasonable infringement on this asserted right?
