  •  My niece on Facebook (13+ / 0-)

...posted a picture of a house with a sign in front of it saying "Hey, criminals, feel free to break into my neighbor's house -- he doesn't have a gun!  And out of respect for his beliefs, I won't defend him with mine!"

I responded, "HA!  Great sign!  Here's another one:

Hey, criminals, studies show that having a gun in your home exponentially increases the likelihood that you or someone in your family will be killed or injured by a gun.  So my neighbor got a gun to -- get this -- keep his family safe!  Feel free to break into his house.  It's not like he'll outsmart you!"

(To clarify -- I know that not all gun owners fit the overcompensating-gun-nut stereotype.  This insulting response is for the people with more bullets than brains.)

How "Christian-ly" of that neighbor who put the sign up. SMGH.

      •  I'm not sure if it was a real sign (2+ / 0-)

Might have been photoshopped.  But what pissed me off was the underlying attitude.

"Don't like guns?  Then I approve of someone actively trying to put you in harm's way."

So you're not really concerned with a safe society -- you just want people to be threatened and terrorized into agreeing with you.

Followed by, "And when you're in harm's way, I won't come to your rescue, even though I could."

Okay.  I'll get by somehow.  :)  But if I agreed with you, and someone broke into my house, you would... what?  Quickly figure out what's going on in my house, come bursting in and play superhero?

Nasty and delusional, fine.  Nasty, delusional and armed, though -- no fucking way that's acceptable.

The Onion says----scholars have discovered---the Mayan word for "Apocalypse" in fact---translates more accurately as: "Time of pale obese gun monsters."
