    That's been a big part of why we stayed, long after those times and long after our kids were through with college.  I should say, tho', that it wasn't just church people who kept us whole.

    I was teaching then, and my students & their parents also showed up.  And my husband was an artist, so that whole community was there, along with some folks from 12th step groups whose names I don't even know to this day.  A few neighbors appeared from nowhere, too.

    But most of our important relationships had been formed within that community, because we had done so much socializing and volunteering and music and camping and traveling and small group stuff and all the rest of it in that context.  

    I think it should be possible . . .
