  •  romm/ E groups have NO response to denialist radio (0+ / 0-)

the 90% is successful in obstruction largely because environmentalist groups have no organized response to the denialists best weapon- 1000 + RW radio stations with coordinated PR responses and floating heritage foundation/koch bros denier flacks used to shout over any traction environmentalists get. all of those stations are denial 24/7 and reach 50 mil a week. and to top it off many of those biggest stations have university sports broadcasting - so they're endorsed by those unis. how many student environmental activists let their own unis negate their work?

skocpol is largely correct, although she doesnt know why.

As readers know, I think the opponents of action — the fossil fuel companies, the disinformers, the right wing media, and the anti-science, pro-pollution ideologuesin the Senate – deserve 60% of the blame. The lame-stream media gets 30% for its generally enabling coverage — see “How the status quo media failed on climate change” and The media’s decision to play the stenographer role helped opponents of climate action stifle progress.” Then the “Think Small” centrists and lukewarmers get 5% for helping to shrink the political space in the debate (see here and here).

This is a list of 76 universities for Rush Limbaugh that endorse global warming denial, racism, sexism, and GOP lies by broadcasting sports on over 170 Limbaugh radio stations.
