And to be honest, I'm kind of glad I wasn't born later, my rapidly diminishing life expectancy notwithstanding.

Pretty much all of my friends in my age cohort voted for Obama. This includes one of my oldest friends (since 8th grade) who had been a staunch Republican prior to 2008. Well, actually, she started feeling less comfortable with her party during the Bush administration (eventually going as far as purchasing a "Bush Administration Countdown" timer for her keychain). In 2008, she was comfortable with McCain, until he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. The Tea Party sealed the deal for her 2012 Obama vote.

Of course, that doesn't mean that she has become an out-and-out political progressive (or not entirely). But it might provide more evidence that the radicalized GOP is nearing its expiration date.

Wait. This discussion is about the diary, right? It's pretty hard to avoid the same criticisms that other commenters have already made, better than I could. It would be helpful for the diarist to provide some sort of response to these criticisms, but as another poster pointed out, the diarist does not seem interested in engaging with the DK community.
