    Most Canadians aren't big on guns. Owning them, carrying them, firing them. I remember an American friend of mine being greatly amused that I'd never shot a gun (and didn't want to.) A veteran, he owned several.

    It's ironic because we have these vast open spaces across most of the country; if you look at a population density map, we have this little belt of people down by the border, and then for about 90% of the surface area, NOTHING. Nada. You'd think that we could make a good argument that we need guns for hunting, if anyone could. Nope. Largely, we're uninterested.

    It isn't just better gun regulation; there is an immense cultural difference. Having said that, better gun regulation goes a long way towards stopping another Newtown from happening.
