  •  I hate Limbaugh but. . . (0+ / 0-)

. . .I hate your logic more. You supplied nothing. A perfect example of mental masturbation.

You need to study up on basic LOGIC. Google it.

Limbaugh characterizes himself as a conservative Christian, yet engages in every behavior that conservative Christians claim is evidence of a lack of Christian faith.

By the way, part 4 is going to be about masturbation, but not the mental kind.

Thanks for everything, Richard. We'll finish it for you.

      •  Far as I can tell, (0+ / 0-)

Limbaugh has never actually professed the Christian faith in public, of any variety (liberal or conservative). I'd take "implied" with a hefty grain of salt.

But even if he were a Christian, that wouldn't keep him from doing bad things. Heck, there are enough Christians in prison to make that laughable. Christianity doesn't offer a vaccination that prevents adherents from committing "sins" of one variety or many. Thus being a drug addict (or any other kind of "sinner") wouldn't automatically mean the person was not a Christian. It might make them a hypocrite, but that's certainly a common enough "sin" as to be positively banal.

        What Christianity offers is "forgiveness."

. . .often seems to give people the carte blanche to misbehave. Actually, I think it's more complex than that. Growing up in a system in which all around you must join in on a mass delusion. . .deep down knowing that no one ever walked on water or brought rotting corpses back to life. . .that entire package of self delusion is a powerful handicap of the brain.

My brother in law grew up in that system. He spent years abusing crack cocaine and his family. They finally found intervention and it worked. Today he is well, strong, went back to school and is now a drug counselor himself. His very religious family considers it a miracle.

I am certain it is no miracle but rather, it was his very faith that handicapped him in the first place and put him in that place.

he  cloaks himself in christianity and regularly demonizes liberals for being ungodly/non-christian

his team is the christian team and he has talent on loan from god and everyone else is communist/evil/socialist - how much of that he believes is a tossup but that is irrelevant

most 'real' christians probably can't stand to listen to him but that's not his audience

This is a list of 76 universities for Rush Limbaugh that endorse global warming denial, racism, sexism, and GOP lies by broadcasting sports on over 170 Limbaugh radio stations.

        •  Proglegs acknowledged this. (0+ / 0-)

He does, early in the article, mention the difficulty involved in defining a Christian.

    •  BTW, don't read this as (2+ / 0-)

me saying that I believe drug addiction is a sign of moral failing.  That's not MY position at all.  But according to Limbaugh's statements on drugs throughout the last 20 years it is certainly HIS.

Thanks for everything, Richard. We'll finish it for you.
