  •  I'd be among those mothers who (20+ / 0-)

    didn't discuss menopause.

At 67, I think I am well past getting any menopausal symptoms. The only one I experienced was a cessation of menstruation and that was 10 years ago. I had co-workers be menopausal  and it was a rough time working with them. No doubt it was rough on their end as well.

Sometimes I wonder if I had it so easy because of the cancer and chemo I had when my daughter's twin turned into a malignant, invasive cancer (she was born 22 weeks early because of it, and they surgically removed the evil cancer twin at that time - it came back with a vengeance 11 months later).

Or maybe because I had no problems with starting menstruation, no problems with menstruation, no problems with pregnancy other than the cancer, no problems breast feeding until I had to start chemo, it was inevitable I'd have no problems with menopause.

My daughters all started as casually as easily as I did, so I hope they'll go through menopause the same way. I did warn them how easy I had it so if it's not easy for them, I won't have any personal experience with it.

    •  That's something, Noddy. (7+ / 0-)

I am familiar with the phenomenon but the name escapes me. You're lucky you came through all right in the end. And I'm glad you did, and the baby too.

I have to ask, though. Doing the math from the stats you provided: a pregnancy brought to delivery 22 weeks early means an 18-week fetus. Is that what you meant? We're talking med textbook stats here, to say nothing of legal implications.

Some DKos series & groups worth your while: Black Kos, Native American Netroots, KosAbility, Monday Night Cancer Club. If you'd like to join the Motor City Kossacks, send me a Kosmail.
