What is the gun security situation in that home.
Can you rely on the security that gun owner describes?
What is the actual  gun storage situation?

If cats could blog, they wouldn't

    •  If my kids ages 7 and 9 are going over (0+ / 0-)

you don't need to do anything.

I don't know where you keep your guns, or if you have a handgun lying on the counter or a shotgun behind the door. One thing I do know is my kids won't mess with your guns, because they know guns aren't kidding. Likewise they aren't going to be messing with your stuff. They won't touch any money or wallets, they won't bother the cat or turn on any machines or electronics or appliances without asking you.

How big is your personal carbon footprint?

      •  Lucky you. What about the other kids? (0+ / 0-)

Do you really know how your otherwise well trained darling boy would react in a dog pack of boys with a strong but, impulsive alpha?

        •  other kids I certainly can't speak for (0+ / 0-)

mostly I blame the parents. Most kids are pretty good when you get down to it, and they aren't dumb, they get it. They know some things are for keeps, they know life is fragile, they know horrible things happen. They want to do the right thing.

My son ran out into the kitchen of the place we were visiting and told my wife the biggest kid had found a gun and was looking for the bullets. My wife told the owner of the house who immediately put things away.

Everyone except me and my wife were mad at the big kid. He didn't know, he isn't a bad kid, he didn't know about guns.

My son is very timid and shy, he knows how to do the right thing. Angel no, but I prepare him for the world the best I can.

My kid is not timid or shy.  He is impulsive and unfortunately a follower.  I keep trying.  Even though I am an Atheist, I attend church with the boy so he can learn the culture.  There are also good kids at the church.  The trick is to find a moderate spiritual home that can accept Mom passing up the Eucharist.
