  •  Well that sounds like (0+ / 0-)

they are getting screwed unless the government isn't actually following the law as written because to day was the inauguration. Does that mean they aren't compensated tomorrow for the inaugural holiday and only for MLK day?

I'm sure there are some that work on Sundays were they provided today and will they be tomorrow?

Enquiring minds and all ya know ;^)

    •  I'm not sure what you mean. (0+ / 0-)

The federal workers in the DC/VA/MD area who are essential worked today because of their positions.  It's a regular workday for them.  So they got paid.

Monday is a paid federal holiday for all federal workers.  When the inauguration falls on a weekday that does not coincide with the King holiday, the DC/VA/MD employees are off, but they are still paid.

The rest of them are working across the country.

The government did follow the law by swearing in the Pres. and VP today.  The pomp and circumstance that usually goes along with it is just being done on Monday, likely for the reasons I've already stated.

But if inauguration day is designated as a federal holiday for those essential workers that worked today in those areas shouldn't they get today and tomorrow?

Just curious and think it would be great
