  •  As I said the reelection (0+ / 0-)

Was critical, but this ceremony (one of two) itself is not any more particular significance that any of the rest of the housekeeping that flows from the election

And namecalling of people will earn you donuts

    •  There was no name calling, so please don't (0+ / 0-)

put words in my mouth, which will earn you donuts.  And the ceremony gave our fantastic president an opportunity to speak to the world and spell out his vision of the future of this country, throwing down the gauntlet for his obstructionist House of Representatives who are doing everything to thwart him on the very issues you sighted above.  And "housekeeping" is how you characterize what flows from an election?  How incredibly bizarre.  And that's not calling YOU any names, either, so don't bother with false accusations.

      Best. President. Ever.

just pathetically misinformed or deliberately ignorant
In fact, I'm pretty damned well informed.  And completely correct that the little ceremony yesterday had preciously little impact on actual policy.  If Justice Sotomayor had stuttered or Michelle Obama had worn green, what effect?  none, zero, zip, nada, bupkiss.

That speech was at the inauguration TODAY, not the one that was not on the front page yesterday (until it was).

Calling people ignorant when they're correct is not wise.

        •  Taken out of context, of course, this can be (0+ / 0-)

construed as name calling, taken in context, not so much, hence no donuts.

You can try to dismiss the Constitutionally required swearing in of this president the day before the pomp and circumstance of today as having "precious little impact on actual policy" if you wish.  For me and millions like me, that moment was historic and important and there are too many people in this country who would have done everything they could concoct to remove him from office if he'd missed it.

Hence, it's importance to this country.

          Best. President. Ever.
